Jesus assures us that the only way to live a righteous life is by not only hearing His words, but obeying them also. It is in the section of the book of Matthew that Jesus tries to convince the listener to grasp the importance of faith in Christ. It is through Christ that our righteousness is obtained. It is through Christ that salvation is assured. It is through Christ that we obtain the blueprint for blessings. In verse Matthew 7:24 Jesus is saying whoever hears these sayings of Mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock; the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
