The Reverend Dr. Wayne E. Beatty, a native and resident of Raleigh, NC, is the pastor of Lincolnville African Methodist Episcopal Church in Raleigh, NC. He currently serves in the Second Episcopal District of the Western North Carolina Conference under the leadership of The Right Reverend James L. Davis, Presiding Prelate, Episcopal Supervisor Arelis B. Davis, and Eastern District Presiding Elder J. Bernard Wilder.

The son of Celestine R. Beatty and the late Reverend Clyde E. Beatty, Jr. former chaplain at St. Augustine’s University, Wayne was educated in the Wake County Public School System and later attended North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, NC. Following a passion for law enforcement, he decided to pursue a career as a North Carolina State Highway Patrolman. He recently retired from the Wake County Sheriff’s Office as a Captain in their Special Operations Division where he supervised the Impact Team, DWI Task Force, Drugs and Vice Unit, Technical Surveillance Unit, Special Response Team, Warrant Squad, and the Canine Unit.

He continues to maintain his law enforcement certification and serve as a physical fitness, firearm, stress & wellness instructor for the Sheriff’s Office. Captain Beatty has served over thirty-two years as a law enforcement officer.

Rev. Beatty answered the call into the ministry in 1998. He delivered his initial sermon at St. Augustine’s College behind the same sacred desk his father preached from and where he served as an acolyte for many years. He holds the Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, the Master of Public Administration, and the Doctor of Ministry Degrees. He was ordained an Itinerant Deacon and Elder in the AME Church, and has served as an Assistant Minister at Saint Matthew AME Church, Raleigh, NC, under the leadership of the Reverend Marion B. Robinson, former Presiding Elder, the late Rev. Larnie G. Horton, and Bishop Adam J. Richardson, Jr., Presiding Prelate.

Dr. Beatty is the former pastor of Shiloh AME Church Morganton, NC, and Pearson Chapel AME Church, Yanceyville, NC.

Wayne is married to the former Brenda Watson, also of Raleigh. They have four sons, 21 year-old, Wayne II; 20 year-old Sean; 17 year-old Christian; and 16 year-old Ethan.

Two of Pastor Beatty’s favorite Scriptures are:

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct they paths.

1 Peter 3:15 But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.
